What kind of control are we attempting to have on the evolution of the world ?

Let’s envisage innovation as a process of influence, which consists to reject the existing social and technical norms in order to propose new ones. Driven by the progressive machinery of production and consumption, innovation seems however to have various stimulations. Oscillating between mastery and constant improvement, the desire for innovation conveys both the experience of what has already been done and the fantasy of what doesn’t exist yet.

Operating in a system of global competition, artists are trying to define the measurement of their evolution and the manner to surpass themselves. Even if they are irrational, their attempts are not without consequences on the perception of the world. The infinite conservation of a soap bubble reveals the poetic dimension to the struggle of humans with matter ; the vulnerability of one to another. To impact of an image using a body of ram is a literal way to counter the illusion of representation. To plan a rain of fishes, to tame a copy machine, to unveil the Google imagination are challenges that artists in the exhibition have the ambition to take on.

We have observed the obstinacy of these creators to overtake their reality. The infrareal is the territory of their experiences ; a space where fictional fantasies are transformed into the most immediate experimentations. Could the illusion of uncertainty be involved in the process of innovation ? They are all betting on it. At the risk of being vain.
